Amy Matzenbach leads VIM Team to Haiti | From August 8-13, West Ohio's Amy Matzenbach, will be leading a United Methodist Volunteers In Mission team alongside Rachel Mills of International Child Care. Team members include: Bo Chrisman, Kent Stephens, Pete Stambazze and Shari Neubauer. It is a leadership trip, representing many different congregations in the West Ohio Conference, to discover new ways that teams can partner with ICC and help in post quake Haiti. The full schedule includes a "Day of Grace" at Grace Children's Hospital, spending time with the home health aides, visiting clinics in the North, distributing health kits in a tent city, helping with demolition of the original inpatient ward, and time in the Pure Water for Haiti factory that makes bio-sand water filters. Working and Worshipping Together: Creating the Body of Christ, an experiential training for persons who intend to engage in ministries with the poor and marginalized, will be held November 1-2, 2010 at the UM Church for All People in Columbus. Charitable Pharmacy helps bridge the gap |
With the recent rise in unemployment, more people are being forced to use free clinics and emergency rooms as their sources of primary care. For acute injuries or infections, these one-time options work well enough. But for the millions of Americans living with high blood pressure, diabetes, asthma, or depression, one trip to a free clinic - and a month's worth of medication - can't provide the on-going care they desperately need. Enter the Charitable Pharmacy of Central Ohio, and a group of dedicated pharmacists and other health professionals who are passionate about providing vital medications to low-income individuals who can't afford them.
