Volunteers from St. Paul's UMC and Monroe Street UMC in Toledo and First UMC in Sylvania teamed up for the Urban Mission Project, an outreach of the Maumee Watershed District of the United Methodist Church. Eighty volunteers spent a recent Saturday painting, scraping, weeding, and repairing four houses in North Toledo. Their goal was not just to fix up the buildings but also to build relationships with the homeowners. [more]
Operation Healing Hope - Bellbrook UMC
quiltOperation Healing Hope is the United Methodist Global Health Initiative to end obstetric fistula. It is part of an international movement dedicated to meeting the goal of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) of eradicating this hidden epidemic by 2015.

A group of women at Bellbrook UMC participated in a study about obstetric fistula. As a part of the commitment to study about this medical epidemic, the group made a "vision quilt" to be sent to Camphor UM Mission in Tubmanville, Liberia where it will be put in the hands of a Traditional Birth Assistant. What is Fair Trade?
fairtradeHave you ever wondered what fair trade is or how to find fair trade products?
It is more than just coffee. It is sports equipment and clothing; it is furniture and jewelry; it is candles and quilts; it is even in ice cream. It is in every aspect of your life. And who makes these products that you buy every day? Someone started the process to get it to your store, picked the cotton for your clothing, or harvested the coffee beans for your coffee. Were they forced laborers...were they children? To learn more about fair trade and how it affects you, visit the West Ohio Conference web page FairTrade and make a difference in your corner of the world.

Wings of the Morning - story of logistics

WOMIt's been said that "an army travels on it's stomach," which simply means that logistics provides the resources to feed and supply the troops. Wings of the Morning is a story of  logistics. In the North Katanga Conference of The Democratic Republic of the Congo, our United Methodist Church provides mosquito nets, builds churches, digs wells, takes critically injured people to a health care facility in the city, and many other efforts to win the battle on poverty and disease. [more]
