Building on the Rock during Rocky Times
RockWe all recognize these are difficult economic times that present challenges for our local churches. These times also present great opportunities to be the church and grow in faith and knowledge as we build upon the Rock. Prayer breaks the way

Churches Rethink Church 
Park Avenue UMCPark Avenue UMC has been having a block party for several years at their church and for awhile it did very well.  We had lots of games, dunking booths, our praise band set down good licks, the men grilled and some people from the neighborhood people would stop by to see what was happening. We even had plenty of volunteers. But after several years, our block party had begun to wane. Volunteers had fallen off and the people of the neighborhood stopped coming by. We needed to rethink where we needed to be and what we needed to do. So we did. (Barbara Dafler) [more] 
Ethnic Young Adult Internship Program
dsn studentsOffered annually June to August, the Ethnic Young Adults Summer Internship program is designed for young adults, between the ages of 18 and 22, representing the five ethnic caucuses of The United Methodist church. Applicants must have an interest in exploring issues of public policy, social justice advocacy, and social change. [more]
