Raise an Eco-Palm branch on Palm Sunday
Anna SentanaAnna Sentana lives in the town of Carmelita, Guatemala where she and her community rely on the harvesting, processing, and selling of palms for their livelihood. Though US palm sales total more than $4.5 million every year, harvesting communities like Anna's rarely share in this bounty. Fortunately, through the Eco-Palm Project, harvesters in Guatemala and Mexico are receiving fair wages for their labor. The work empowers women in the cooperatives by providing jobs, increased income to help send their children to school and provides opportunities for leadership positions. The deadline for ordering is March 2. [more]

United Methodists help ice storm victims
ice storm
United Methodists have provided physical, emotional and spiritual support to those affected by the ice storm and power outages in Kentucky. Danville Centenary UMC has provided more than 2,000 meals and shelter for several hundred people and has cared for personnel responding to the emergency. Other churches in the state also have functioned as shelters and warming centers for their communities. Photos and details about the storm and relief efforts can be found at the Kentucky Conference website.  Ways to help financially can be found at Winter Storm Disaster Relief.
