New Bible for a New President
GPalmer
The day before the election, Bishop Gregory Palmer, president of the United Methodist Council of bishops, signs a Holy Bible to be presented to the next president of the United States. The Bishops have a long tradition of presenting the country's newly elected president with a Bible signed by the denomination's bishops.

Foundation for Evangelism Awards Grants Impacting West Ohio Ministries
Foundation for EvangelismThe West Ohio Conference Residency Program and The Young Pastors Network led by Mike Slaughter & Adam Hamilton, were both awarded grants for 2009 by the United Methodist Foundation for Evangelism Venture Capital Grant Program.  Seventy proposals were submitted and only four were chosen. Full Story

West Ohio Announces 2009 Recipients for Congregational Development Grants 
Jackson ChristChrist UMC in Jackson, along with 30 other ministry centers in West Ohio, was awarded a West Ohio Church & Congregational Grant (WOCC) for 2009. The WOCC Grant Team (formerly BCCD) awarded $691,837 in funding to ministries engaging in church revitalization, Hispanic Ministries, or new church start congregations in alignment with their respective district priorities and the West Ohio Disciple Making Church Lead Team. Of the more than 50 grant applications received, funds have been awarded to 31 churches and ministries of West Ohio. WOCC grants are funded by the apportionment giving of our local congregations.  Grant Recipients
United Methodists Receive Licences for Work in Cuba
Bob&CarolAfter weeks of efforts, the United Methodist Board of Global Ministries has been granted two licenses from the U.S. government for relief work in hurricane-ravaged Cuba. 
 
The new licenses will allow the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) to provide both short and long-term assistance to Cubans affected by Hurricanes Gustav and Ike in September.  Full Story

WinterCamp at Camp Otterbein - December 29-January 1 for grades 3-12. After unwrapping the presents and finishing the Christmas meal, what better way to kee the excitement alive than to send your campers to Camp Otterbein for winter time fun.  Details
 
Choir Camp at Camp Otterbein - March 6-9 for 4th-7th graders.Choir Camp is an annual camp for kids who want to sing and perform in a fun, Christian environment.  The week culminates in a Camp Choir Concert for family and friends.  Details
 
Healing Weekend at Widewater Retreat & Ministry Center - December 5-7.  Healing weekends are for all persons living with HIV/AIDS, as well as friends, partners, families and caregivers.  Brochure   Registration
