BECOME A WEST OHIO SUMMER INTERN

The West Ohio Conference is offering Next Generations Leadership Internship opportunities to college sophomores and juniors who are members of a WOC church.  These internships are intended for students who are discerning ordained ministry as a vocation. Interns will serve for 12-weeks alongside a clergy mentor in a WOC local church.  Interns will be paid a $4,600 stipend.

Consider Mentoring an Intern discerning a call to ordained ministry as a vocation during the summer of 2009.  Apply for your church to be a host site for the 2009 WOC Summer Next Generations Leadership Internship Program. 
LEARN HOW TO START MINISTRY AMONG THE POOR
 
Pastor MiguelHow do you plant churches and ministries among people who are poor? How do you build upon the assets of the community even when money is not available? Pastor Miguel De Leon, part of the Oriental Conference Training Team, has planted 20 congregations and ministries in 27 years within these conditions. Come and learn from his experience and meet 3 pastors he has helped call into minis-try who are now making Disciples of Jesus Christ and trans-forming the world among people who are poor.

CALL FOR TRAINERS IN WEB MINISTRY
 
United Methodist Communications needs your help to identify potential National Trainers for Web and Internet technology training through its face-to-face events, "Weaving a Web of Connections," and new instructor-led online courses in Web ministry. You may be a potential candidate yourself, or you may wish to "endorse" someone from your conference.
 
To view the complete details of the National Trainer role, please visit our National Trainers webpage. We would like your recommendations or submissions no later than October 30, 2008. A decision will be made by November 3, 2008, and the first meeting of the trainers will be the week of December 7, 2008 in Nashville, Tennessee (actual dates will be December 8-10, 9-11 or 10-12). All selected trainers must be able to attend the meeting, no exceptions

Legal Forum
2008 Twelfth Annual Legal Forum
November 7, Ohio   Northern University, Ada, OH. Presented By The West Ohio Conference Board of Trustees and The Pettit College of Law of the Ohio Northern University. In addition to refreshments and lunch, each participant will receive a notebook of all handout materials, and a CD with all materials from the previous Legal Forums.

CasaCASA de MISERICORDIA ORPHANAGE
 
November 13: 10:00 a.m.-12 noon; King Avenue UMC, 299 King Avenue, Columbus 43201. Learn how you can keep the power of hope alive at the Casa de Misericordia. Pastor Miguel de Leon, founder and director of the orphanage, will share about the current and future plans of the orphanage and how we can make a difference in the lives of children.

CokesburyFAMILY REUNION 2009
 
The United Methodist Publishing House will bring together Christian education leaders from Annual Conferences across the country for a time of Equipping them to lead curriculum and teacher training workshops in their Conferences; Celebrating the teaching ministry of Christ's church; and Networking with other Conference Christian education leaders and with United Methodist Publishing House staff to learn from each other and strengthen the "family ties" of our shared ministry - March 5 through noon on  March 6 in Nashville, Tennessee.
