Our thoughts and prayers remain with our neighbors across Central Texas whose homes and livelihoods have been devastated by wildfires. Our attention turns to the critical needs of those displaced by this terrible disaster.
Following the destructive events of the past weeks, Austin Habitat has been approved to expand our service area to include Bastrop County. In the coming weeks and months, Austin Habitat will be in conversation with other non-profit organizations and the community of Bastrop to determine the best ways we can help rebuild this community. We will alert our community of volunteers and donors as our plans take shape.
Many of you may be thinking, what can I do to help right now?
The victims of the Central Texas fires need immediate assistance to restore their lives. Though Austin Habitat isn't a first responder in situations like these, we work closely with other community partners to make sure critical community needs are met.
Right now, the two most critical needs are financial contributions and shelter.
