Episode 2 Tonight: Friday Night Lights Features Austin Habitat

TONIGHT at 7 PM CST, NBC will air the second 'Friday Night Lights' episode that features Austin Habitat homes, titled 'I Can't.'  Tonight's episode features a time-honored Habitat tradition, the House Dedication celebration. Austin Habitat staff collaborated with the show's producers to encourage authenticity in the presentation of this tradition. Tune in tonight to see how they did! Congratulations to 'Friday Night Lights' for their Emmy nominations!

Austin Habitat Selected To Participate in New National Neighborhood Initiative

Habitat for Humanity International has selected Austin Habitat to participate in the first phase of its ambitious new Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative. The initiative encourages Habitat affiliates to serve more families by expanding their programs beyond new home construction.

Throughout the last 10 years, Austin Habitat has built on our mission to include home repair and homeowner education, and most recently became a HUD-certified Housing Counseling Agency, enabling us to offer our extensive home ownership, financial literacy and foreclosure prevention opportunities to the general public.

Our mission: to end the cycle of poverty housing through the power of home ownership. It may be simple, but it's power is shown through the tremendous change being made in neighborhoods across Austin.

We look forward to participating in this exciting initiative!

Though the summer heat has hit us...

...Austin Habitat continues to build houses. In the last two weeks, volunteers working together with families have raised the walls on two new Habitat homes. The critical need for simple, decent home ownership opportunities continues to grow here in Austin. We need your help.

About Austin Habitat for Humanity
At Austin Habitat, we believe everyone deserves a simple, decent and affordable place to live. It changes everything. We know that together we can end the cycle of poverty. Together we can change lives.

We have served the Austin community since 1985, building more than 250 new affordable homes with hardworking low-income families. Homes are built with volunteer labor and community funding, and sold to our home buyers with zero-interest mortgage loans. Each home buyer participates in housing counseling programs and contributes approximately 400 hours of "sweat-equity."

You can change lives by giving at AustinHabitat.org.
