Dear HYPsters,
Happy New Year! We trust that the Holidays and New Years brought many good times - now it's time to look forward to what
2009 has in store. As you will see in this eNewsletter, we have more volunteer
opportunities this year than ever before.
As our membership grows in both strength and numbers I am thankful for the
opportunities we have had to change lives and make this world we live in a
better place. I had the pleasure to attend a board meeting for Austin
Habitat for Humanity and was able to see the larger impact that HYP has on the
organization. A board member from another chapter drove in over 40 miles for
the meeting. After hearing about our involvement and contribution in the area
she jokingly tried to recruit us... It's clear that we are making a difference
and it's getting noticed.
Please put on you calendar tonight's Social hour, the
Volunteer Day on the 24th, and the upcoming 'Build the LOVE' fundraiser! As always, don't be afraid to invite your friends.
With your help, we can continue to Change Lives.

Come Out and Experience the Work of Austin Habitat - Join Us for the January HYP Volunteer Day
|
HYP VOLUNTEER DAY - Saturday, January 24th 8:00AM Location TBD
In general, you can count on the opportunity to
work along side your fellow HYP members on the fourth Saturday of each month
with the exception of November and December when we will host our Volunteer day
on the 2nd Saturday due to the holidays. This is a first come, first serve
volunteer opportunity. We have approximately 20-25 spots for each Saturday. We will accept HYP members first but
encourage you to recruit friends and colleagues who are interested in working
side by side with us and experiencing first hand what HYP and Habitat are all
about.
The first members to RSVP to HYPvolunteer@gmail.com will be placed on the list. Signing up is a commitment for the day to come out
and help Austin Habitat with the day's tasks which can include any aspects of
our homebuilding program including BUILDING, DECONSTRUCTING, COSMETIC HOME
REPAIRS and RESTORE WORK. We will contact you ahead of time with all of the
details including location and directions. This is what it is all
about! Come on out... Build the
HYP. Change Lives.

A SPECIAL NOTE TO ALL VOLUNTEERS
This just in from AHFH's Director of Volunteer Services:
volunteers who have registered on-line don't need to re-register each year
(if you have completed on-line orientation/registration in the past two years,
then you are covered - you may want to update your contact info though).
However, EVERY volunteer must submit the Liability Waiver, annually.
So EVERY volunteer must submit a new liability waiver for 2009. The
waiver is available on-line here, and hard copies are always on each
job site. If you choose to circulate this waiver, please include a note
that anyone who has not registered and completed orientation on-line in the
past two years, must still do so. Let me know if you have questions on
the paperwork/registration process.
