Happy Thanksgiving From
Austin Habitat for Humanity
Greetings!

As we join with family and friends this week to celebrate Thanksgiving, I wanted to take a moment and reflect on the thousands of people in Austin and beyond who make the work of Austin Habitat for Humanity possible.

Early in December, we will dedicate the 235th Austin Habitat home. This is a tremendous testament to the commitment the Austin community has made to change lives. At Austin Habitat, we often speak of the five legs of the stool that support our efforts. Today, I'd like to give thanks to all who serve our mission:

Families. We are proud to partner with families in their hard-fought journey to purchasing their first home. With each family, the Austin Habitat community grows richer and more diverse, and we are thankful for the gifts they bring us.
Land.  As we work to build more than 20 homes each year, we rely on the generosity of many partners, including the City of Austin and Travis County, to help us purchase and develop the land on which we create new communities.
Construction Expertise. As a leading builder of affordable, green homes in our climate zone, Austin Habitat leads by the tremendous example set by our design and construction experts.
Volunteers. With over 6500 volunteers annually, Austin Habitat is blessed with an army of generous Central Texans who make the choice to donate their Saturdays - whether in the heat of August or the frost of January - to build with us.
Donors. As we celebrate house dedications, it is with the generosity of philanthropists, corporations, congregations, foundations, and everyday citizens who donate to Austin Habitat that we are able to build our homes. Every wall, roof truss or nail that goes into our homes is a direct result of the choice to give.

This past weekend, we visited the Wells Fargo build to record words of thanks from our community. Click below to visit the Change Lives Blog and watch as our staff, partner families and volunteers share what they are thankful for this holiday season:

'tis the Season to Change LivesP. S. 'tis the season to change lives! At Austin Habitat, one of our special holiday traditions is building the Home for the Holidays. And this year, the tradition continues on December 1 as we raise the walls on 2008 build. Special thanks to our house sponsor State Farm and our media partner KVUE for making this holiday celebration an annual Austin tradition!
