AUSTIN, Texas (October 31, 2008) - Join us as we dedicate two homes at once on Saturday, November 1 @ 10 a.m. This very special dedication celebrates the end of a long journey for Rafa and Maricela Garcia and their children, as well as Rafa's brother Jose, his wife Rosa and their children. Following over 400 hours of sweat equity and 24 educational courses, the Garcia families will pass into homeownership tomorrow along with the donors and volunteers who worked alongside them.
Rafa and Maricela's home, the second-annual Pride Build in honor of Betti Naylor, represents the generosity and leadership of Austin's LGBT community.
Jose and Rosa's home represents the effort on the part of hundreds of individual donors from across Austin, as well as the generosity of the City of Austin's Austin Housing Finance Corporation.

A Lunch Hour That Did Change Lives $400,000 Raised at 1st-annual The Build Event
AUSTIN, Texas (October 31, 2008) -
On Wednesday, October 22, the Stephen F Austin Hotel played host to the first-ever
Austin Habitat for Humanity The Build
event - a lunch hour that changed lives.
At the event a special
presentation was made to philanthropist and entrepreneur Nav Sooch, for his
leadership in stewarding over $125,000 in donations to Austin Habitat in 2008. Special
guest emcee John Thornton lead the over 250 guests in applauding Mr. Sooch's
efforts with the presentation of the 2008 Austin
Habitat 'Change Lives' award.
Austin Habitat is proud to
announce that with the generosity of the event's guests and sponsors, over
$100,000 was raised in the room to support the Austin Habitat mission. This
achievement was accompanied by the announcement of an additional $300,000 in
funding for a special Chestnut Neighborhood revitalization project, made
possible through the Meredith Family Fund of the Austin Community Foundation,
as well as a grant from the Entrepreneur's Foundation of Central Texas.
With over $400,000 committed in one
day, October 22, 2008 was one of the finest days ever for the fight against
poverty housing in Austin. Austin Habitat thanks the support of its Board of Directors, Leadership Council, Event
