Austin Habitat to Raise the Walls on ABC House
AUSTIN, Texas (August 26, 2008) - Austin Habitat for Humanity and the Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. (ABC) will raise the walls on the ABC house located at 6901 Villita Cove on Thursday, August 28, 2008, at 8 a.m.
The house, which is fully sponsored by ABC, gives sisters Erika and Deisy Vazquez a chance to finally have a home that is safe and large enough for them and their children and extended family.
"I have known about Austin Habitat for Humanity for many years, and I knew our organization could put together a team to take on the challenge of building a home for a deserving family," says David Ford, president and CEO of ABC, Inc. "One of our goals each year at ABC is to give back to the community."

About the Vazquez Family The Vazquez are a tight-knit family. Sisters Erika and Deisy work two jobs--in production at TVI, Inc. and in the daycare at First Evangelical Free--to provide for their children and mother, as well as providing for their siblings so they may go to college.
The family currently lives in a four-bedroom house that has no air conditioning and is infested with cockroaches. Living with Erika and Deisy is their mother Olivia, 46, sister Violeta, 27, brother Gerardo 20, and children Dulce, 16,Daniela, 13, Luis, 10, Arturo, 5, and Jocelyn, four months.
