The Romero/Fernandez Family
Eloy Romero and Miranda Fernandez have two children, Eliev, age 16, and Eldgar, age 8. The family is currently living in subsidized housing in an unsafe neighborhood. Eldgar has no safe place to play because there are drug dealers and constant traffic outside their apartment.
The Romero/Fernandez family quickly qualified to begin building their home by completing 200 hours of "sweat equity" in just four months. The family has since completed the remaining 200 hours, meeting Austin Habitat's requirement for home buyers to contribute approximately 400 hours of sweat-equity.
