What's Up, Doc?
Celebrating the most famous animation in the world - and its equally famous music - Bugs Bunny at the Symphony comes to The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion featuring the Houston Symphony July 26 at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 for orchestra seating. Mezzanine and lawn seating are free courtesy of Anadarko Petroleum Corporation and the Lindahl Family Foundation. Tickets are not required for free seating. Gates open at 7 p.m. This event is sponsored in part by Houston Family Magazine.
Conducted and created by Emmy Award™ winner George Daugherty, Bugs Bunny at the Symphony is a celebration of the world's favorite Warner Bros. Looney Tunes characters on-screen with live full symphony orchestra accompaniment. The music was composed by legendary Hollywood composers Carl Stalling and Milt Franklyn, as inspired by the extraordinary classics of Wagner, Rossini, Strauss, Tchaikovsky, Offenbach, Liszt, and many others.
Bugs Bunny at the Symphony is the eagerly-anticipated sequel to Bugs Bunny on Broadway, the record-setting orchestra-and-film concert that pioneered a new genre of symphony orchestra entertainment when it debuted on Broadway in 1990. This new version of the concert celebrates the 20-year legacy of Looney Tunes and orchestral music together "in concert."
Retaining the most indelible moments from the original production, the concert includes Chuck Jones' inspired What's Opera, Doc? and The Rabbit of Seville, while adding in other Warner Bros. classics like Friz Freleng's Rhapsody Rabbit, and the virtuoso orchestral roller coaster ride of the Road Runner epic, Zoom and Bored, as well as, Baton Bunny, Home Tweet Home, A Corny Concerto, Long-Haired Hare and more. Bugs Bunny is joined on-screen by his immensely popular cohorts, including Elmer Fudd, Daffy Duck, Tweety, Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner, Pepe Le Pew, and many others. New to the concert are special guest appearances by Tom and Jerry In The Hollywood Bowl, and spectacular musical montages starring The Flintstones, Scooby-Doo, and other stars from the world of Warner Bros. and Hanna-Barbera.
Arrive early for pre-concert activities starting at 7 p.m. in the North Plaza, sponsored by Fidelity Investments, Market Street-The Woodlands, Renewal by Andersen and Century 21 featuring The Pavilion Partners, Radio Disney Road Crew, Woodforest National Bank, Renewal by Anderson, Montgomery County Food Bank, Century 21 Realty Group, CASA, Houston Family Magazine and Audi of America, official automobile of The Pavilion. Guests can register to win Tommy Bahama's "Best Seats in the House," which includes dinner for four at the next performing arts event and a $100 gift card from Market Street-The Woodlands."Treat" yourself to free ice cream! The first 1,000 guests to visit the North Plaza get free ice cream with all the fixings, courtesy of Fidelity Investments.
Guests are welcome to have a picnic in their seat or on the hill at Bugs Bunny at the Symphony. Keep in mind that beverages cannot be brought into The Pavilion. Sitting on the hill? Lawn chairs also are provided free for this event!

The Pavilion Ranks Third in The World
According to Pollstar magazine, the concert industry's leading trade publication, The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion ranked third in its listing of the top 50 amphitheaters in the world based on the number of tickets sold during the first six months of 2012. The Pavilion's ticket sales totaled 138,696 for shows played between Jan. 1 and June 30, 2012.
"Our 23rd season has been filled with a wide variety of performances and sold-out concerts. We are fortunate to be located in a strong market and have as our partner, Live Nation, the No. 1 concert promoter in the world," said Jerry MacDonald, president and CEO of The Pavilion. "The venue itself, its location and our staff also contribute to our success."
So far this season, The Pavilion has had four sold-out concerts including Buzzfest 28 April 21, Dave Matthews Band May 18, Jimmy Buffett June 2 and One Direction June 24.
"We are excited about The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion's third-place ranking at this point in the season," said Randy McElrath, Senior Vice President of Booking for Live Nation. "The management at The Pavilion really knows their customers and treats them as friends. It is no surprise that The Pavilion is one of the leading ticket sellers again this season."
