The Pavilion Ranks Fifth Out of the Top 100 Amphitheaters in the World for 2011
 

According to the Jan. 16, 2012, edition of Pollstar magazine, the concert industry's leading trade publication, The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion ranked fifth in its listing of the top 100 amphitheaters in the world based on the number of tickets sold in 2011. The Pavilion's ticket sales totaled 277,099 for shows played between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2011.


The Pavilion had eight sold-out concerts in 2011 including Arcade Fire May 4, Jimmy Buffett & the Coral Reefer Band May 5, Stevie Nicks Aug. 13, 94.5 The Buzz/Bud Light Weenie Roast Aug. 28, Kid Rock with Sheryl Crow Sept. 3, Maroon 5 and Train Sept. 24, Journey with Foreigner and Night Ranger Sept. 25, and Buzzfest XXVII Oct. 22.    

 

According to Pollstar magazine, 2012 concert business is looking to be a record-breaking year with a stellar array of talent set to hit the road. The Pavilion is gearing up for the new season and has announced two concerts including The Black Keys April 24 and Il Divo June 21. The Pavilion Partners Fine Arts Scholarships Deadline Approaching   

 

The Pavilion Partners, the official volunteer organization of The Pavilion, is currently accepting applications for fine arts scholarships for the 2012-13 academic year.  Scholarships are available to students in Conroe ISD, Spring ISD, Klein ISD, Magnolia ISD, Montgomery ISD, Tomball ISD, Willis ISD, MacArthur and Carver High Schools in Aldine ISD and private schools within each district's boundaries. Scholarships are
awarded based on the talent and academic performance of students majoring in the fine arts disciplines of dance, instrumental music, theatre arts, visual/graphic arts or vocal music.
Scholarship
Applicants must intend to major in fine arts, may apply in only one talent area, and must be a U.S. citizen or eligible resident. The deadline for applications is Feb. 1. Please click here to download the application.

Since its inception, Partners has awarded more than $500,000 in scholarships to students studying the arts.

The Pavilion Partners 14th Annual Wine Dinner & Auction honoring Jacque & Lloyd Everson is March 25 at 5 p.m. on The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion's main stage. The event includes a gourmet dinner catered by Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar, delicious wines, a silent auction, bid board and exhilarating live auction. The event benefits The Pavilion Partners Fine Arts Scholarship Fund and The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion's Educational Outreach Programs.
