Artist Spotlight: Kid Rock

Detroit rock-rapper Kid Rock returns to The Pavilion Sat., Sept. 3 at 7:30 p.m. with special guest Sheryl Crow. Kid Rock's current tour, "Born Free," is in support of his eighth studio album of the same name.

Kid RockKid Rock hit mainstream success with his fourth full-length album, "Devil Without a Cause," released in 1998 when rap-metal had a strong audience. The album showcased his distinctive personality and became an infectious party record.  With help from the label and MTV, the second single and video, "Bawitdaba," became a national hit. Kid Rock's current album, "Born Free," features guest appearances by Martina McBride, Trace Adkins, Zac Brown, Sheryl Crow, Bob Seger, James Hetfield and T.I. In regard to the album, Kid Rock stated, "The catalyst for this record was Detroit, and my thoughts on the world through the lens of Detroit...I wanted to make a record that reflected the times but that still had soul."
