The Houston Symphony Performed for CISD Students at The Pavilion

On May 25, fourth grade and six grade band and orchestra students in the Conroe Independent School District were invited to hear a performance from the Houston Symphony at The Pavilion for Fine Arts Education Day. Approximately 4,800 students and teachers attended this event.

This program is designed to introduce CISD fourth graders to orchestral music, giving them tools to discover the various instruments in band and orchestra. Sixth grade band and orchestra students from CISD also were invited to attend the event. For these students, the concert serves as inspiration for them to continue their studies in music. The program also helps students learn to listen actively and purposefully.

The Eagles Cover Contest Offers a Chance to Win VIP Tickets to

The Music of The Eagles with the Houston Symphony

by Laura Beth Williams

The Pavilion announces The Eagles Cover Contest that allows fans to show off their talent by doing their own rendition of The Eagles' hit song "Hotel California."  One lucky winner will receive four VIP tickets to The Music of The Eagles with the Houston Symphony July 2 at The Pavilion, along with four VIP club tickets, one VIP parking pass and a $100 gift certificate to Market Street!

Contestants may enter The Eagles Cover Contest by uploading a video of themselves performing a cover to The Eagles' "Hotel California" on YouTube.  They can then submit the video with their full name to The Pavilion's YouTube page by replying to "The Eagles Cover Contest Rules" video (see below).  The contest begins June 3 and ends June 29 at midnight.

Amplified by a full rock band and accompanied by singers Terry Brock, Randy Jackson and John Hines, the Houston Symphony turns rock 'n' roll for The Music of The Eagles July 2. The trio performs some of The Eagles' greatest hits including, "Heartache Tonight," "Desperado," "Witchy Woman," "Take It Easy" and more!

Contestants are welcome to use any instruments they choose in their video.  There are no restrictions as to how many can be used.  Videos should be 1-5 minutes in length.  A winner will be selected by The Pavilion staff and notified on June 30.  Each video will be evaluated based on talent and creativity, so grab your video camera and get ready to rock out!
