Featured Artist: Sheryl Crow
Sheryl Crow, one of the most popular mainstream rockers of the '90s, takes The Pavilion stage tonight, Aug. 27 at 8 p.m. Colbie Caillat brings her mellow sound prior to Crow at 7:50 p.m.
Crow grew up around music as her parents both performed in swing orchestras, her father played the trumpet and her mother was a singer. She wrote her first song at age 13 and majored in music at the University of Missouri. After working as a music teacher, playing with two cover bands and recording local advertising jingles, Crow moved to Los Angeles in 1986 to pursue her dream of working in the music business.
Her first break was as a backup singer for Michael Jackson on his international "Bad" tour. After two years on the road, she continued to search for her own record deal. She eventually became a session vocalist, performing with Sting, Rod Stewart, Stevie Wonder, among others and honed her songwriting skills. All of her hard work paid off when she got signed to A&M Records through a connection with producer Hugh Padgham.
Her debut album didn't quite have the sound she was looking for and she continued working. Her official debut album, "Tuesday Night Music Club," was released in 1993 and took off slowly. Her third single, "All I Wanna Do," became one of the biggest summer singles of 1994, and launched Crow's career. Her album was selling fast and helped her take home three Grammy awards in 1995.
Currently, Crow is touring in support of her seventh studio album, "100 Miles from Memphis," which features guest spots from Keith Richards, Justin Timberlake and Citizen Cope.
Don't miss tonight's performance filled with classic roots rock in a laid-back setting. Gates open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 7:50 p.m. For more information and to buy tickets, click here.
Check out the House of Blues Hospitality Tent now open at The Pavilion before, during and after the show! It opens at 6 p.m. Aug. 27 for Sheryl Crow and remains open approximately one hour after the concert. Admission is free for all concert-goers. Enjoy air-conditioning, private restrooms, a full-service bar, appetizer menu and live video-feed of the concert, when available.
