 "Star-Spangled Salute" July 3
 
Micheal KrajewskiThe Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion salutes America at the annual Star-Spangled Salute July 3 at 8 p.m. Wave your flag to the tune of patriotic compositions performed by the Houston Symphony and The Texas Tenors. This free concert is generously sponsored by The Woodlands Development Company. Picnics are welcome (no beverages), lawn chairs are available for free, and tickets are not required. Gates open at 6:30 p.m.

 

At Star-Spangled Salute,the world-renowned Houston Symphony performs a variety of classic American numbers from "Deep in the Heart of Texas" to the "1812 Overture." Other selections include "Shenandoah," "Grand Canyon Suite," "Service Medley," "My Way," "The Liberty Bell," "Nessun Dorma," "Bandstand Boogie," and Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the U.S.A."

 

Up With PeopleThe vibrant vocals of The Texas Tenors also can be heard performing with the Houston Symphony. If anyone can attest to being an overnight success, it's The Texas Tenors. Assembled just a year ago, The Tenors competed in, and placed in the top four acts of the 2009 season of "America's Got Talent." More...
