Enjoy an Evening Full of Patriotic Music & Fun with The U.S. Army Field Band & Soldiers' Chorus July 28 By Kacie Broadhurst
The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion and Houston Community Newspapers are proud to host The United States Army Field Band & Soldiers' Chorus July 28 at 7:30 p.m. for a FREE concert! The U.S. Army Field Band is the official touring musical organization of the Army and is recognized for its prestigious performances across the globe. Join The Pavilion in supporting our troops and taking pride in our country. The evening's program features all-American patriotic music including "Country Band March," "The Mad Major," "The Fantastic Fast-Fingered Fandango," "Armed Forces Salute," "Stars and Strips Forever" and more. Enjoyable for the entire family, the program is sure to have you cheering with the American spirit. Pre-concert activities begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Fidelity Investments Plaza with something for everyone. Join in on Pavilion Talk from 6:45 - 7:15 p.m. with a free discussion about the evening's performance hosted by Ira J. Black, a prominent music scholar and college professor. Kids can play musical instruments at The Pavilion Partners' popular Instrument Petting Zoo, sponsored by Music & Arts. They can also make red, white, and blue bracelets to show off their American patriotism. Additional hands-on activities are provided by Woodforest National Bank, Amazing Siding and Audi of America, official automobile of The Pavilion. Parents be sure to stop by the Tommy Bahama's booth to register for the "Best Seats in the House." To show our appreciation for service men and women, Army veterans are encouraged to sign up with the Freedom Team Salute program, part of the Department of the Army. Beginning in 2005, this program was developed as a way of honoring and saying thanks to our U.S. Army veterans. Each honoree receives a special commendation package including a certificate of appreciation and thank you letter signed by the Secretary of the Army and the Army Chief of Staff, a label pin and automobile decals. Don't miss this unique opportunity to see a military band live in concert for FREE! Come to The Pavilion July 28 and help foster support for members of the Armed Forces while enjoying an excellent performance with The U.S. Army Field Band & Soldiers' Chorus. Pre-concert activities begin at 6:30 p.m. This event is free and open to everyone. For more information about The Pavilion and its 20th Performing Arts Season, please visit www.woodlandscenter.org.
