Issue: #4 June 2008
Greetings!

Hopefully, everyone is settling into summer and enjoying fun times with friends and family.  One pastime that remains popular during these warmer months is relaxing with a great book!  Whether you enjoy reading on the beach, by the pool or on your own front porch almost everyone can appreciate the pleasure of reading a great book.  In honor of this, CCB is making an appeal for donations of children's books for our Book Donation Program.  CCB accepts both new and gently-used books that are distributed to pre-K's, afterschool programs, schools and youth organizations that serve children in low-income communities. If you have books to donate, please email info@childrencreatingbridges.org or call 610-431-7385.

Also, financial contributions to CCB are greatly appreciated.  CCB is a member of First Book Marketplace, which gives us the ability to purchase high quality children books at extremely discounted prices.  To donate online click here:

Iraqi Refugee Crisis - Resettlement In US

How can you help children get involved in helping Iraqi refugee families that are resettling here in the United States?  Children Creating Bridges is looking for children and youth organizations that would like to participate in a program to make welcome baskets to be donated to Nationalities Service Center, a nonprofit organization that helps with Iraqi resettlement.

If you are interested in more information on this program or if you would like to participate, please email info@childrencreatingbridges.org or call 610-431-7385.

Warm Caps for Babies Program

Did you know that simply placing a knitted or crocheted cap on a baby's head for warmth could save many of the 2 million babies who die each year in the first 24 hours of life? The CCB Warm Cap Program provides an opportunity for children and adults to learn how to knit baby caps. The caps are then donated to developing countries and to poverty-stricken communities here in the United States.
