October 2009 - NEW WORK FROM PAPUA NEW GUINEA

Image of the Month
GD

Papua New Guinea's Mount Hagan Sing Sing Cultural Show August 2009.

This is a Huli Wigman.  The pride that these warriors take in the wigs weaved from their own hair, can only be rivaled by the show that the beautiful male Birds of Paradise put on when trying to attract a mate.  For 18 months young men sit spirit houses, where only men are allowed, and grow their hair.  After cutting their hair, they then weave immaculate wigs from the take.  Exiting their lairs to show the world their dignity in full plume.
NEW COLLECTOR'S EDITION SIZES!

I have made a decision that I will only sign 100 of each of my new limited editions pieces from Papua New Guinea.  Available in either 18x27 or 24x36 at $900 and $1500 respectively.   As before, I will be offering them in matte signed only, open edition prints in standard sizes no larger than 16x20, from $35 to $325.

And a special thank you to Dr. David Springer and the students of the "The Art of Being Human" class at the University of Texas, for allowing me to come speak and share my story with them this week.  Remember...."There's No Reason To Look Back, You're Not Headed That Way."
