I was watching a movie about a character with supernatural healing ability (Wolverine in X-Men Origins) and something was said to him which I found really profound. They said, "We're about to make you indestructible, but first we're going to have to destroy you." They were about to fill/replace Wolverine's bones with adamantium, an indestructible metal alloy. It was going to be an extremely painful process, but Wolverine was willing to go through it because he had a powerful enemy that he hadn't been able to defeat. I could relate. I too have a powerful enemy who is out to destroy me. Like Wolverine I can't defeat this enemy in my own strength, and the process which strengthens me can be very painful. Wolverine did actually die in the process, but it was only temporary, and he came back stronger than ever, ready to face his enemy.

Adamantium is a made up word based on the real word adamant. Adamant has been used to designate any impenetrably or unyieldingly hard substance and, formerly, a legendary stone/rock or mineral of impenetrable hardness and with many other properties, often identified with diamond or lodestone. Adamantly has long been used to refer to the embodiment of impregnable, diamondlike hardness, or to describe a very firm/resolute position (e.g. He adamantly refused to leave).

In order for us to become adamant in our walk with the Lord, we have to go through the process of dying daily. Yes it hurts but we get crushed by the rock until The Rock is in us. You die when you go through it but you come out steadfast and immovable. I pray you will persevere through the process so you can come out resolute and indestructible to your enemies. And please remember your loving Father is overseeing the whole process with a watchful eye.
