Sometimes we seem to get in our heads that if something is really of God then it will be quick and easy. We expect doors to fly open and success at every turn. We wrongly assume the person whose prayers were answered quickly is somehow better or more spiritual than the person who waits 20 years. "You must be doing something wrong" the devil says. Well the truth is God didn't promise us ease; He told us to pick up our crosses daily [Luke 9:23]. We can still live an abundant life full of joy, but we need to be aware that we will face challenges. The truth is the size of your cross is based on what you can handle and your willingness to submit to God. So don't get discouraged if your way seems particularly hard. Don't feel bad if others seem to receive blessings while you're still waiting. It doesn't mean you're forsaken or on the wrong path; it probably means God has found someone He can really trust to go all the way with Him.
