Maybe that seems like a really obvious simple prayer but I think it's necessary. Too often we ask God for what we don't have, or we complain to Him about what we think we've lost, instead of just thanking Him for what we actually have. Yesterday I shared that I was mourning over a discount on gas but God led me to a better deal. As TD Jakes said "the miracle is never in what we lost; it's in what we have left." I know it's very easy to be painfully aware of what has been lost as time passes and resources dwindle but every one of us still has much to be grateful for. I've "lost" a lot but I have a lot, and I've gained a lot [Phil 3:7-9]. I put quotes around lost because I don't believe you ever truly lose anything when you're following God. If you need it God can restore it or give you better, but if you don't have it then you don't need it to accomplish God's will in your life.
Maybe you feel like you've lost some of your health or looks but God can put an amazing blessing on what you still have left. Men you can get the woman God has for you with the hair you have left, or with the money or faith you have left for hair restoration. J Maybe you lost a lot of money in the recession but God can do a miracle with what you have left. Too often I've thought I can't do what I want to do because I don't have what I need to do it. But God shows me how to work wonders with what I have. Remember He is the God that fed thousands with 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish [Matt 14:17-21]. The less you have the bigger the miracle. Remember how God purposely lessened Gideon's resources so He could demonstrate His power [Judges 7:2]. You don't need the people that left you to do what God is calling you to do.
God's Beloved thank God for what you have. If you focus on what you actually have I think you'll realize you have been abundantly blessed. And it's our gratitude that ushers in more blessings. We enter God's gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise [Psalm 100:4].
