Yes I am thanking God for mothering me, and I encourage you to do the same. God is our all in all, the Alpha and the Omega, and from Him came both male and female. He is our father and our mother. If you find the idea of God as a mother offensive read the scripture that says "Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you!" [Isaiah 49:15] or "Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing." [Matthew 23:37, Luke 13:34] God is nurturing, and His love is like a protective Father and a nurturing tender Mother.
I saw the sweetest commercial recently. It's from P&G about the Special Olympics and it shows this little girl playing sports and doing things and you hear her mother's voice saying the doctors always told her what her child couldn't do but when she looked at her child she never saw what she couldn't do, she only imagined what she could. Awwww. And God said that's how I see you. Yesterday I talked about how God hates when we tell Him we can't do something, and this is why - He looks at us and sees only possibilities.
Happy Mothers' Day to all the mothers out there, and to our wonderful Heavenly Father.
