Yesterday I shared my notes from TD Jakes' message about the fellowship of suffering with Christ. Well in that message Bishop Jakes also talked about letting go of dead things. He said some of you have wasted 10 years of your life fooling with dead things. Well the same day I watched TD Jakes I watched a movie called Hachi: A Dog's Tale. The movie is
about a dog who was so close to his master that he would go wait for him at the train station when he got off work. When the master died suddenly Hachiko the dog waited for his master for 10 years. It is the saddest story because the poor dog couldn't understand and accept that his master wasn't coming back. Waiting on dead things... I believe it's no coincidence that both the movie and TD Jakes mentioned waiting for 10 years. As far as I can figure out the 10 years isn't significant for me but I know it's for someone, perhaps it's for you.
I have mixed feelings about Hachi's story. My heart really breaks for the dog, and I can't even watch the trailer without crying. But on the other hand Hachi is the role model for loyalty. There really was a dog named Hachiko who waited on his deceased master for years. The true story of Hachiko has inspired millions. There have been books, publications and movies about this loyal dog's life. When people see how loyal one dog can be it inspires and convicts them. Long after Hachi's death there is a statue of him in the spot where he waited. The one who wouldn't forget his master will never be forgotten.
So I will let the Holy Spirit speak to you. If you need to release some dead thing you are holding on to I pray you will. If you are called to keep waiting, even if your waiting seems to be in vain, I pray God will give you the strength to persevere. The main thing is to hear God's voice and obey it.
