I was studying Haggai and when the Lord said He would fill the house with glory I asked Him to fill this house, meaning my body, with His glory. In Haggai God's people had returned to Jerusalem after being exiled for many years. From Ezra we know that the people started the foundation for God's temple but didn't finish because they'd allowed opposition to stop them. Then the people worked on their own houses and land. I can understand that. They'd been through a whole lot and now they were finally back home, no longer exiles. I think after we've been through something the tendency is to indulge or pamper yourself some. There's nothing wrong with having a nice home, but the people were neglecting God's house, and as a result all their efforts were in vain. Haggai confronted them and told them they wouldn't be successful until they put God first and honored the covenant they made with Him. But that's not even my main point, that's just background.

My point is God promised to fill the finished temple with His glory, and that it would be greater than the former glory. God said that He would shake things up first and then His glory would come. I thought about how in the Old Testament God's people had to go to a temple to worship God, but under the New Covenant His people are the temple. We house God's Holy Spirit and it is us that He fills with His glory. Think about what an incredible honor and privilege it is to house the Holy Spirit and be filled with the glory of God. It's no wonder that God often has to shake up our lives and our worlds before He is able to fill us with His exceeding glory. Selfishness and me first attitudes must be shaken off. Ungodliness and wrong mindsets must be shaken off. After all the shaking only that foundation remains, and then God is able to fill us with His glory. At the end of Haggai God said He would make His servant like His signet ring. Wow. Imagine that. God wants you to represent Him in such a way it's like a ring with His name/initials on it. I don't know about you but when everything starts shaking I'll be wrapped around His finger.
