As I've launched out into the deep to follow God I try to keep the vision in front of me. Often it seems impossible given my circumstances and resources. One of the challenges is trusting that God will bring everything together in His perfect timing. Another challenge is resisting the urge to run ahead of Him. The completed vision would require a whole team of people, each operating in excellence in his/her area. Well often I have tried to be a whole team of people, and felt condemned when I fell short of that goal. God's goal was for me to do what I could do and use the vision as a guide to help me recognize my team as they came along. Well like many people I didn't get the lesson as well as when I saw someone else not 'getting it.'
A friend came along who had skills and experience in an area where I had great need. He believed wholeheartedly in the vision/mission and was more than willing to help. However I often observed him trying to operate outside his area of expertise, in an attempt to meet perceived needs. I appreciated his willingness but I wanted him to focus on his gifts and what I asked him to do. I saw him trying to do things that God had already gifted and assigned others to do. I could see that more would be accomplished if each person concentrated on their area of expertise/assignment.
Well God showed me that I needed to do the same. He didn't expect me to be a whole team. He wanted me to concentrate on what He called me to do. Those areas where there seemed to be deficiencies would just have to wait until the assigned people step up. If I've asked and God hasn't provided then it must not be time yet. It can be very dangerous to expand/grow prematurely. It's better to let God guide the process.
God's Beloved I encourage you to focus on whatever God has called you to do. Even if He's given you a vision that seems to have missing pieces trust He has a good plan. Believe He will bring what you need when you need it. Often times it may seem to come late but I think part of that is because we don't appreciate what comes too quickly or too easily; and often we think we're ready long before we really are. J I pray that you will do your assignment, and not allow condemnation or distractions to deter you.
