Journal Excerpt

At the post office I was waiting in line because I still hadn't picked up my package yet. A lady in front of me insisted that another lady get in front of her because she'd made 2 trips with packages. I thought that was nice for the lady but a bit rude to me since she didn't make sure it was ok with me also to cut the line. The lady had a lot of stuff and I was only getting a package. But it was no big deal. Fortunately a man announced that if you were just picking up mail with no money transactions you could go to him. I was waiting for such an opportunity so I immediately headed that way. When a man a couple of people behind me saw that he also headed over there and since he was closer to the back he made it first. I thought that was quite rude since etiquette/decorum dictates that first in line should be served first. And then the man wasn't even ready. I tried to hand the postal clerk my slip and was prepared to say that I was first in the main line but the clerk ignored it or didn't see it. And the man wasn't even picking up mail. He was asking questions and just wanted preferential treatment. The clerk had a little trouble getting rid of him. He told him to go to the automatic station. I thought "That rude man!"  

After I got my package I went to the automatic station to mail the products when I noticed the man look at the automatic station and walk away confused. He was older and I felt sorry for him so I got out of line and went and told the man I could help him use the station as I use it all the time. He just wanted to mail a letter to Italy. So I walked him through it although unfortunately the machine said he had to go to the desk during certain hours. But I felt really good about it. That's how you submit to God and resist the devil. Go out of your way to be kind to those who slight/hurt you. The man left very grateful for my help nonetheless. Perhaps he'll use the machine in the future now that he knows how.

I thought about how we have to do things like that. Go out of our way in the small day to day matters. Let the enemy know we are going to let our lights shine regardless, despite what he does.
