OK, before you get too upset let me explain myself. When I say "pimp" I mean a derivative from the French infinitive pimper meaning to dress up elegantly. There is a slang expression "pimped out" which means fabulous, awesome and extravagant. And when I say prison I am not referring to jail, although it could be. I'm talking about however/wherever you happen to find yourself as a prisoner for the Lord.  The apostle Paul and dreamer Joseph both found themselves imprisoned, but I believe all believers go through periods where they will have a metaphorical if not a physical prison experience. The Bible tells us there are seasons of abasing (lack) and seasons of abounding (abundance). It also tells us that we can learn to be content in every season.

When I sold my home and moved to Houston I was very disappointed with the small apartment God led me to. The temptation has often been to neglect it. Why invest in something that isn't worth that much anyway? Because God led me to it and I'm here, that's why. I am here as a prisoner for the Lord and God told me to pimp out my prison. Make it so fabulous that it will make the devil angry. At first I lived out of boxes because my attitude was I don't want to be here and I don't plan to be here long. But wherever I am is my palace because I am royalty. God loves beauty and majesty and splendor [Ezekiel 16:12-14] and we are a reflection of Him.

God's Beloved it is a greater testimony when we take a seemingly bad situation and turn it into something enjoyable, than when we enjoy a great blessing. God has made it clear He doesn't want His children going around looking and acting pitiful. He said when you fast clean your face and look good so no one can even tell. [Matt 6:16-18]. I pray that during times of abasing, in undesirable places and situations, you will find a way to pimp out your prison. See it as a challenge. Don't just endure it, make it fabulous. Show the world that your joy doesn't come from your circumstances but from your God. Even if you're living in a cardboard box, because you have the spirit of God in you, it can be the most fabulous pimped out cardboard box there ever was. Imagine the frustrated devil saying "It doesn't matter where that child of God is, they find a way to make it beautiful!"
