Journal Excerpt

Anyway [my friend] was talking about something she wants to put in her book and how she couldn't find the information. I said why don't you ask Jesus. She kind of laughed and dismissed that. She said God doesn't speak to me like He speaks to you. I tried to encourage her but she didn't believe me.

 

I thought about how hearing from God is a promise in His word. His sheep know His voice. It's true it's different for different people but it's something we should pursue. I remember when other people would say God told them things and I felt like an outsider looking in. How do they do that? Are they more special to God? But I kept trying and asking God to speak to me. Like Graham said I kept asking, seeking and knocking. That's what we have to do. We can't just assume some things are only for some people and give up. Hearing from God is soooo important. I'm still trying to get better at hearing His voice. That's a life long pursuit. It makes me sad to think that my friend has just given up on something that is her right and a necessity. And it makes me think about my life. Are there areas where I've just given up? Where I think God has this for others but not for me? I don't want that testimony Lord.

God's Beloved I pray you receive everything God wants to give you. You have an inheritance that is rightfully yours. Don't disqualify what God has qualified.

 

BTW my friend found an article with the information she wanted shortly after we spoke, so perhaps that's the way God chose to speak to her.
