I have a friend that calls me often, but wants to talk more than listen. There are times when I've had supernatural experiences or received amazing revelations, but she never hears about them. She just wants to talk about her problems and hear a soothing word about them. If she'd pause long enough to listen I could tell her things that might shine light on her situation. She might receive solutions instead of temporary relief; but I don't like to talk to those who don't like to listen. I know some have the insistent attitude "Please listen to me" and will talk knowing their audience is more captive than captivated. Personally I don't like to share unless I believe the listener is really interested in hearing.

Please know I am not judging my friend, I love her dearly but our relationship is much less than it could be. Not only does she not hear many of my revelations and supernatural experiences but she doesn't even know much about what's going on in my life. She shares much but inquires little. I think often she assumes that if I don't say anything then nothing is happening.

I believe God uses people to teach us about our relationship with Him. People are naturally selfish, and we all need to do better. Lord I want to take our relationship to another level. I don't want to just come to You with my problems, talking and seldom listening. I want to be a better listener; knowing that You don't speak unless You have my undivided attention. I don't want to remain focused on me and my problems when You want to share the secrets of heaven with me. I don't want it to be said that I came to You every day, talking and sharing, and although You knew me well, I never got to know You. You are more than a Counselor; You are my friend. I don't want to have to hear about what You're doing from those who know You more intimately. Lord take the lead in our relationship, and take it to another level.
