| The Latest Gimmick - Surgery without Anesthesia |
There was a recent article in The New York Times about patients being awake during their breast augmentation procedure and actually being able to choose their implant size in the operating room! This has been a similar theme for liposuction and face lifting procedures as well. Frequently, patients have an innate fear of anesthesia. They believe anesthesia is associated with risk, and they don't like the idea of "losing control." There is a primal fear of "not waking up." In actuality, anesthesia provided by skilled anesthesiologists is quite safe and reliable. I haven't had an issue with anesthesia in over 25 years in practice - none. Read more. |
