Summer Build Season
Hello Friends-
Summers are always wonderful busy times, but this year Habitat has kicked it up a notch by working on seven homes at the same time! Every property we are working on this year was foreclosed and empty...we are revitalizing our community by rehabbing these houses and turning them into homes for hardworking families. It's incredible to see the tangible difference we can make together. This month alone we dedicated 1223 Evelyn for Sarah Aldrich, are wrapping up the work on the Interfaith Build for the Krisel Family, kicked off two new houses, and are scheduled to kick off another in mid-July.

Watching the transformation of this many homes reminds us how blessed we are by so many great supporters. We really couldn't make this difference without you-our community of support-wh

o sponsor the builds, dedicate your
time on-site, provide food for the workers, volunteer at our store and help in so many other ways!

Thank you!

Thrivent KickOff
2836 Maplewood - Blitz Build
We had a great turn-out and beautiful weather for our Thrivent Builds Kickoff!  A special thanks to our Housleader Andy Lakatos from Trinity Lutheran and Pastor Michael Wentzel of St. Paul Lutheran for blessing the build. And a big thank you to all our amazing volunteers who have already dedicated many hours of hard work on this rehab. This Ann Arbor house will become a home for an amazing single mother and her beautiful daughter by the end of summer.
The build is sponsored by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, a wonderful financial institution who has partnered with Habitat to build over 2,000 homes internationally and six here in Washtenaw county.  Local Lutherans provide 10% of the funding for each Thrivent Build and over 50% of the labor.

This month's Habitat Hero is DUCTZ.  DUCTZ is a national franchise with its headquarters here in Ann Arbor.  DUCTZ provides world-class duct cleaning (both residential and commercial), commercial kitchen ventilation cleaning and soon they will be offering residential upholstery cleaning.
Over the past year DUCTZ has donated their services to clean the duct work of over a dozen Habitat renovations here in Washtenaw County and provided financial support for Habitat.  DUCTZ is at the forefront of improving indoor air quality.  The duct cleaning services provide a healthy more energy efficient heating system for our homeowners and we appreciate our growing partnership.  Please support your local DUCTZ franchise - they can be located by visiting their website:
www.DUCTZ.com or in Washtenaw County contact DUCTZ of Southeast Michigan for Air Duct Cleaning, Carpet Cleaning, and/or Dryer Vent Cleaning by calling 734-973-7777.

Maggie Porter- Faith Relations Coordinator
Maggie PorterHello, my name is Maggie Porter and I'm the new Faith Relations Associate here at Habitat, which means I get the privilege of working with our great church partners on builds (they currently sponsor 60% of our work!!) and other projects. I love that Habitat helps people become self-sufficient, that we give them a hand-up, not a hand-out and change their and their children's' lives permanently.

Before I came to Habitat I worked at a faith-based homeless ministry in Detroit for three years in Development. I recently earned my Masters in Public Administration from U of M (Go Blue!), just got back from an epic backpacking trip across Europe, and am excited to be moving to Ann Arbor in the next few months.

Hyundai Blitz915- Work
Hyundai volunteers came out six days in a row, June 7-12, to work on this Ypsilanti home.  The local auto company has also made a generous financial contribution to this project.  A big thanks to Hyundai's support of both funds and volunteers to help achieve more affordable housing in Washtenaw County!
