The Living in Michigan Coalition is a group of over forty organizations, including our state support organization Habitat for Humanity of Michigan, working together to advance Michigan's Housing and Community Development Fund (MHCDF). The mission of the fund is to provide housing opportunities for all Michigan residents, and to help transform our economy by improving the quality of life in Michigan's cities, towns, and villages - especially those with high concentrations of poverty - to create vibrant communities where people want to live, work, and retire. Building and sustaining vibrant cities is central to any plan to revitalize Michigan. Michigan's Housing and Community Development Fund will accomplish its mission by:
- Financing downtown and neighborhood improvements to make them attractive places to live and do business.
- Financing affordable and market rate housing for young people, knowledge workers, immigrants, early retirees, and people with low and moderate incomes.
- Financing supportive housing for the homeless and people with disabilities.
MHCDF Tax Check-Off Taxpayers are able to make a donation to the MHCDF on their 2009 State of Michigan Income Tax Returns on Line 24 of the MI-1040 Form and by attaching Form 4642, 2009 Michigan Voluntary Contribution Schedule. Please join us in growing this important funding for our state!

Whole Foods and Habitat |
|
Do you buy your groceries from Whole Foods?
Are you looking for another way to support your local Habitat for Humanity?
If you answered yes to these questions, then we have the program for you! Habitat is participating in the Whole Foods SCRIP Program: we purchase gift cards directly from Whole Foods at a discounted rate, and then we sell them to our supporters at full value. This is an easy way to buy your groceries and help Habitat families! Place an order for your gift card(s) in increments of $25-$500, and we will have them waiting at our office to pick-up at your convenience. Use these gift cards just as you would use cash or your credit card. We also offer an automatic monthly order so you will never be without your gift card. Contact Megan Rodgers to sign-up today or for additional information, mrodgers@h4h.org or (734)677-1558 ext. 121.

| Habitat Dedicates Two Homes |
Miller Home Dedicated - State Farm Grant AwardedLarry and Erin Miller, their family, friends, neighbors, volunteers, and sponsors recently dedicated and celebrated the completion of the 2009 Michigan House. Present were also State Farm Agent John Avery and State Representative Rebekah Warren.
Many thanks and congratulations to the UM Campus Chapter on receiving a $10,000 grant from State Farm, which matched funds raised by the students throughout the year. In a competitive grant process, the campus chapter showed passion and dedication to serving families in our community, proving to State Farm that they were, indeed, deserving of one of five large grants among hundreds of campus chapters nationwide.
Toviave Home DedicatedThe Toviave family also dedicated their home in January with sponsors, neighbors, volunteers and others present to celebrate the completion. A special thanks goes out to MAVDevelopment for the financial sponsorship and volunteer support they provided for this home.

The Taylor Home Dedication - Sunday, February 21, 3:00 pm
1474 S. Harris, Ypsilanti
Kyana Taylor and her family extend an invitation to all Habitat supporters to join us Sunday, February 21 at 3:00pm for the dedication festivities. New roof, siding, paint, beautifully refinished hardwood floors and more will be revealed. A big thanks to our Timken and SKF "Team Habitat" groups for their work on South Harris!

More Renovations Starting Soon Habitat of Huron Valley will kick off three new renovation projects in the coming weeks. Closings are scheduled on four additional homes with varying levels of work required and expectations of beginning later in the spring.
Good News to Sponsor 2 Harvest Lane Homes
The Good News Coalition of 20+ churches will sponsor two homes again this summer, this time in the quiet, Superior Township neighborhood off Clark and Wiard Roads where they've built twice before. Preparatory and trades work will be completed on both homes in time for volunteers to begin work in May.

The Aldrich Family Home- Sponsors Needed
1223 Evelyn, Ypsilanti
Congratulations to the Aldrich family! Some interior drywall has been removed in order to allow trades upgrades to proceed, but regularly scheduled work with volunteers is expected to begin by late February and continue through May. Thanks to Mr. Bob Leffler of Valley Builders in Ann Arbor for volunteering his time as house leader on this renovation project.

2010 Interfaith Build
This home is one of four in the Nancy Park/Gault Village neighborhood that Habitat is renovating. The home will require few interior renovations, but will require LOTS of paint - both inside and outside. Habitat welcomes applications for homeownership year round and looks forward to a new family accepting this home very soon.
