"Steering" families toward homeownership |
Habitat for Humanity's "Cars for Homes" program is a nationwide vehicle donation program that has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for Habitat since its inception in 2003. These funds have provided the necessary financial support to build simple, decent and affordable homes for hardworking families. Cars for Homes takes donated cars, trucks, motorcycles, RVs and other vehicles and sells them through automobile auctions, recyclers or salvage yards. The funds generated from the vehicle sales benefit the local Habitat for Humanity affiliate and community where the donation is made. The process is simple and efficient! Donors can call the Cars for Homes toll-free number, 1-877-277-4344, or process their donation online at www.carsforhomes.org. The donor contact, title and vehicle information is collected and, upon acceptance of the donation, arrangements are made for the vehicle, keys and title to be picked up for processing. Donors then receive an acknowledgement letter for their vehicle donation that can then be used for tax purposes. To date, Habitat for Humanity of Huron Valley has received an astounding $11,884.95 in funds through this program. Will you help steer more families toward affordable homeownership opportunities?

Habitat & Toyota Expand Partnership
|
Habitat and Toyota have again partnered, this time to renovate a foreclosed home in Ann Arbor's Bryant Park neighborhood. Toyota team members began by stripping and preparing the roof for shingles on Saturday, July 11 and will continue volunteering their time on the weekends this summer to renovate the home. Habitat's Executive Director Sarah Stanton is thrilled about the continued partnership with Toyota, "We are so grateful for Toyota's commitment to affordable housing in our community, and look forward to working with them through the summer to complete this project and sell an affordable home to a family." "Toyota is a strong believer in being involved with the communities where we do business. It's nice to partner with our local Habitat for Humanity, an organization that shares the same commitment to serve this community." Toyota Technical Center's President Shigeki Terashi says. "Our Team Members from the Toyota Technical Center are looking forward to working with Habitat and gaining the satisfaction of knowing that we are helping families in our community." |
