| Home Services Now Being Offered |
Habitat for Humanity of Huron Valley is excited to announce our new home services to customers, donors, and other community supporters. For a fee, we will provide anything from handyman services to complete deconstruction services with the express purpose of bringing in additional revenue to fund the building of more homes.
"Our talent pool is deep" says Doug Towner, Director of Business Development. "We will provide exceptional services to the community, reducing the overall waste that otherwise often ends up in a landfill, and ultimately be able to build more affordable homes."
To find out more, contact Doug at 734-677-1558, ext. 119.

Because of the alliance between Habitat and Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and our long-standing relationship and support from local Lutheran congregations, your Huron Valley affiliate has been awarded another Thrivent Builds home in 2009. Local Lutherans will again volunteer alongside this year's partner family, expected to be named soon. Construction is expected to begin in June. This year, we will join 225 other Habitat affiliates to build 314 Thrivent homes across the nation.

members and friends from Ann Arbor Christian Reformed Church, which is

Robin Lee and Brian Stewart and Ann Clouse are working alongside
volunteers each week to wrap up their side-by-side homes on Miles Street. Minimal

Scouting for Habitat
|
Habitat's workshop located at our Headquarters welcomed new visitors on Saturday, January 10. Over fifteen Cub Scouts from the Spiritus Sanctus Academy of Plymouth, Michigan spent the afternoon earning their woodworking and community service badges. Half of the group assembled and painted wood birdhouses while the others made CD stands. Many of the items will be donated to Habitat families.
Habitat is anxious to take advantage of its workshop through activities such as this. Contact Lynne Punnett , Director of Faith Relations and Volunteer Services, at lynnep@h4H.org if your group is interested.

Family Support Partners Needed
|
|
Habitat is
seeking Family Support Committee volunteers willing to mentor prospective homeowners. Primary duties include attending monthly committee meetings as well as building and maintaining a
relationship with and helping orient homeowners to the Habitat for Humanity
process. A minimum 3-year
commitment is preferred. Persons interested should email gwynn.sterken@gmail.com.

"Check the box"
|
Affordable housing supporters, please "Check the Box to Support Housing in
Michigan" on this year's Michigan State Income Tax Form. Last
year, more than $2 million was granted to a variety of housing projects, with
nearly $500,000 going to Habitat affiliates in Michigan. In order to keep the "Check Off", we need to raise $200,000 in that fund over the next two years.
