Increasing awareness through concentration enhances all levels of well being and improves the overall quality of life. Many of us are confused about our identity and the reality of our lives. We may be uncomfortable with certain aspects of our personality, or how we act, or react to what surrounds us. The pace of our lives does not foster reflection, synthesis or wisdom; our thoughts race, our emotions overwhelm us and our senses are on overload. Throughout our daily routine, we feel drained and we are convinced that something is missing from our lives.
 
Concentration Meditation fosters going below the surface to experience how we perceive ourselves and our everyday world. It allows us to truly assess what is going on inside us. Applying an engaged awareness, opens up resources and energies to expand and redefine our day-to-day experience. Taking an inner assessment makes it clear how to direct life-energy for healing, nourishment and a balanced life-style.

College for Kids
"Native American Life"
Full-Day Program (Grades 4-6)
October 5-9, 2009

Students (Grades 4-6) will have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of Native American culture and history at College for Kids' Fall 2009 Progam, "Native American Life". Lessons focus on understanding Native American land, ecology, and foods; famous leaders; dwellings, customs, and tribal life structure; roles of women; art, dance, & music.  Native American artifacts and hands-on experience will bring to life the "Mitakuye Oyasin" concept, "We are all related".

Topics include: Powerpoint; Native American Art; Dance, Drum, & Talk Story; Warrior Chess II; and College Information & Careers.
 

 Meet Peggy Kelley, Computer & Technology Training Coordinator

VITEC welcomes Peggy Kelley aboard the team, as the new Computer and Technology Training Coordinator.  Peggy brings strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills to her new role.

Peggy Kelley is an accomplished technology professional with over 20 years experience in various positions within the computer industry. During her professional career Peggy has taken a variety of roles including: Graphic Designer, Senior Software Support Engineer, Senior Software Quality Assurance Engineer, and Software Quality Assurance Manager.

Peggy is also involved in the local community as an artist and student.  Currently she is working on a series of murals at the Pomaika'i Elementary School.  These murals are the ground breaking project to kick off a developing partnership between MCC's Art Department and Pomaika'i  (the only arts integrated public school in the state).  The goal of this mutually beneficial partnership is to educate all students (K-college) about the arts.  To see pictures of these murals please click on Pomaikai'i Mural Project.
