Human Resource Skills for Small Business Owners & Job Seekers
Two new classes are being offered this fall
with content specifically designed for VITEC-Continuing Education & Training. Stephanie Latham joins VITEC from the mainland to
teach the new classes, "Rx for Common Small
Business HR Headaches" and "I Seen Your Add: Getting Hired from a Hiring
Manager's Perspective". Stephanie, the owner of sbHR solutions, is a Senior Professional in
Human Resource (SPHR) and has a M.S. in Business Administration with a
concentration in Management and Organizational Effectiveness.
As
the owner of a small business, Stephanie consults with other small businesses to help them
achieve their goals by aligning organizational systems. She has extensive experience in all aspects
of human resources and offers a functional perspective on human capital
management related issues. While there is unfortunately not a "simple
pill" to deal with these types of issues, the "Rx for Small Business
HR Headaches" class, held in four segments on Fridays, October 2-23, provides practical ways to learn basic HR
principles. Intended for owners, managers and employees of small businesses
tasked to manage HR related functions, this interactive class provides working
knowledge to assess what you are doing right, and how things might be done
differently, more efficiently, with reduced liability -
and reduce migraines!
The
three hour session "I Seen Your Add", held on Mondays, October 19 & 26, provides a hands on job-seeking approach from a
fresh and unique viewpoint. As a former recruiter and corporate staffing
manager, Stephanie now uses her powers for good instead of evil, turning the
tables by helping job seekers develop creative and effective alternatives to
compete in today's difficult job market. She has interviewed hundreds of
applicants and has learned what it really takes to get hired. You'll leave with a plan to attack your job
hunt to increase your opportunity to find employment. You might also leave with a few humorous real
life interviewing anecdotes!
