How Creative People Can Thrive in the New Economy

It's simple: Right before our eyes, the economy is reinventing itself, which means we must reinvent ourselves. The turbulent economy is scary. It's painful. It's heartless. It's an international crisis. And it's an opportunity. At least for people like us.

Belma has been teaching creative people how to set up independent presses and publish their own books since the year 2000. All the while, he's predicted the eventual demise of the traditional book business and the corresponding rise of the small press to take its place. Over and again, he's said that there will be a moment in time when independent presses, small publishers and self-publishers would be able to create a permanent place for themselves in the book business. Well the time is now.

Belma Michael Johnson's career includes numerous fields within the entertainment industry: producer, author, editor, publisher, and public speaker. He has a wide range of executive skills and, as a hands-on producer, has learned the creative process from the inside out. He has worked as a television executive in several formats: reality, talk, competition, variety, documentary, and rockumentary. A successful creative executive in several fields, he has worked for numerous major media companies and was a creator of original broadband programming. He has earned three Emmy nominations. Currently, he is host of the top-rated HGTV series 'Designed to Sell' and is offering a year-long virtual marketing conference to help artists make money in the new economy.

Pilates is a method of exercise first developed in the 1920's by Joseph Pilates. It focuses on strengthening the body and toning the muscles through a series of exercises and stretches performed on a mat with a focus on proper breathing.

Pilates is famous for whittling the waistlines of many celebrities, but few people know that it was originally used to rehabilitate dancers with injuries.

Eva Bondar is the owner of Maui Pilates, Hawaii, and she has been teaching Pilates on Maui for over 6 years.  She has adapted the exercises originally designed for dancers of extreme fitness & flexibility to meet the needs & limitations of people at all levels of fitness.
 
Eva also incorporates strength training movements and stretches to create a flowing, seamless routine that provides an excellent and enjoyable workout.  Bondar says, "Nothing could give me a greater sense of satisfaction than seeing people accomplish their fitness goals of losing weight, eliminating back pain, and feeling good about themselves."

College for Kids (grades 4-8) & College Bound (grades 9-12) happens during the intercession weeks when DOE/private schools are closed. We teach to the whole student, providing classes not normally found in the K-12 experience- enrichment that is project-oriented & interdisciplinary.
 

What happens at College for Kids?
· A central theme each week
· Classes M-F, 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
· Introduction to the college environment & 21st century careers
· Art, music/dance & technology classes
· Walking field trips-Media studios, Culinary, others; off campus field trips on selected weeks
