  • Every Thursday will feature an op-ed in the Register Guard. Click here to read the first in the series written by John Radich of the Oregon Department of Human Services.
  • Every Wednesday at 7:20 a.m. tune into KPNW 1120 AM for live interviews about child abuse prevention. Click here to listen to this morning's touching interview with an adoptive mother.

Significant changes are happening in the response to child abuse and neglect in Lane County, and we want to keep you informed. Join us for an informational presentation featuring:

  • Erinn Kelley-Siel, Acting Director, Oregon Department of Human Services: DHS-Child Welfare is working toward significant changes in its response to cases of child abuse and neglect, with an emphasis on placing fewer children into foster care.

  •  Megan Shultz, Executive Director, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA): CASA is preparing to launch a new program model that will engage more high-level volunteers in order to double the number of children served within the next few years.

The event is free to attend (and is not a fundraiser). Light food will be served from 5:30 - 6:00 p.m. donated by Cafe Yumm! The Crossroads on Gateway Street. The presentation will begin promptly at 6:00 p.m. Please RSVP by May 16th via email to Sarah-Kate Sharkey, Associate Director, or call her at (541) 868-3087. We hope to see you there!
