TIPS: PeopleCode Statements
Most errors and logs will point you to a particular PeopleCode
statement number. But how do you figure exactly what bit of PeopleCode
the error is referring to?
In Application Designer:
- Open your PeopleCode
- Choose view and turn off Word Wrap (it should not have a tick next to it)
- Choose edit > goto (or CTRL + G)
- In the dialog box select the statement number option and enter the statement number you want.
Note if the statement number option is disabled, you need to first turn off word wrap through the view menu (step 2).

2009 ERP TRENDS: Remote Work on the Rise
 Outsourcing is a topic that often sparks
debate, whether it's about the quality of workers, feasibility of
geographic locations or the affect on homeland job security. With economic crises
and financial bailouts occurring worldwide, many companies could benefit
from outsourcing, but may be hesitant to explore their options because of
these issues.
In the past, the stampede toward offshore outsourcing came as no
surprise. For years now, the business press has been regurgitating
claims from offshore vendors that IT work costing $100 an hour in the
United States can be done for $20 an hour in Bangalore or Beijing. If those figures sound too good to be true, that's because they are. Subtract this savings by the cost of maintaing offshore staff, prepping the work and the loss of dissatisfied customers and the savings is often much less than 20%.
But in 2009, a
growing number of workers is expected to be dialing, rather than driving, into
work. According to a recent survey. More than two-thirds (69 percent)
of executives polled said it is common for their companies' employees
to work off-site. Moreover, 82 percent of managers said they expect the
number of employees who work remotely to increase in the next five
years.
*The study was conducted by an independent research firm and
developed by OfficeTeam, a leading staffing service specializing in the
placement of highly skilled administrative professionals. The survey is
based on telephone interviews with 150 randomly selected senior
executives at the nation's 1,000 largest companies.
Companies will be looking at US based staff to pick up where off-shore staff fell short.
Executives were asked, "Do you expect the number of employees who
work off-site or from remote locations to increase or decrease in the
next five years?"
Their responses:
22% Increase greatly
60% Increase somewhat
18% Stay the same
0% Decrease somewhat
0% Decrease greatly
Technology has made it easier for employees to work
remotely when traveling for business. Team this technology with the rising fuel costs and the lag in the economy, and working from home becomes a lot more attractive for both employees and employers. The average American spends over 100 hours per year
getting to and from work.
Although some workers walk, bike, or carpool,
the vast majority of commuters drive to work. Considering that the average car emits 20.4 pounds
of CO2 emissions per gallon of fuel, a reduction (or complete
elimination) of your commute would significantly impact your annual
carbon emissions.
For example, if 5% of New Yorkers stopped commuting via vehicle,
they would eliminate 150 million pounds of CO2 emissions per year. This
is equivalent to planting a forest 1.3 times the size of Manhattan!
