County Assessors revalue all property yearly, notifying owners of their new value by mail. These new values are the basis for tax amounts the following year. Property owners who believe the new assessed value exceeds fair market value have the opportunity to appeal by filing a petition to their county's Board of Equalization. New Problem: Not Enough Homes?
Can it be possible? Despite the housing bust, in some areas real estate agents are complaining that they don't have enough homes to sell. In March, there were nearly 2% fewer homes on the market than there were a year ago, and 21.7% fewer than the record high in July 2008.
