Tax Credit Status
The first-time home buyer tax credit and the repeat homebuyer tax credit expires in 15 days. Anyone looking to take advantage of this program has to be in contract on a home by April 30 and close by June 30 to qualify. So far, it does not look as though Congress will extend the credit again.

King County Year over Year Prices Inch Upward

House prices in King County rose in March for the first time in more than two years, according to one closely watched measure. The median price of single-family homes that sold last month was $367,250, up 0.9 percent from March 2009. While tiny, the year-over-year countywide increase was the first since January 2008.

Renting the High Life
Renting brand new, unsold property is an option that many builders grudgingly exercised last year. A quick scan of the Northwest Multiple Listing Service in late February revealed that some 25 homes or condos built in King County in 2009 were listed for rent. However, that's likely a deceptively low number. Developers usually won't list their entire vacant inventory in the MLS to avoid attracting lowball lease offers.
