| Every Girl Can - New Educational Enrichment program Debuts at Takoma Park Middle School |
|

In November, 2006, Yasmin created Every Girl Can, an educational enrichment program for middle school girls offered as an afterschool and summer program. The program is designed to help girls 11 to 14 years navigate the often difficult transition to young adulthood and focuses on raising self-awareness while building knowledge and skills in image, etiquette, civility, self-esteem and empowerment. The program which has expanded to other County middle schools and the Silver Spring Boys' and Girls' Club. Your Image Matters -Sharpen it!, a similar program for girls and boys was offered at Montgomery College (Rockville campus) as part of their 2007 Summer Youth Programs. This program was also a featured workshop at the first annual, GIRLS Rule conference held at the University of Maryland (Shady Grove) in September 2007. To help promote and raise funds for the program, Yasmin created the Every Girl Can T-shirt which is given to girls who complete the course. Yasmin's vision is to expand the program nationally and internationally. To order the Every Girl Can t-shirt please visit http://www.everygirlcan.org.
