Blast From The Past
Congratulations on reading this far down into
the newsletter! It's worth it because you've come to the most thought provoking
section of all! It's written by my friend, and one time training partner,
Officer Jeff Patterson of the Indianapolis Police Dept. and currently the
Defense Tactics Instructor at the Indianapolis Police Academy. He is also
part owner of Escape Plan-a self defense program for women.
Recently, I came across
a blog that he wrote a few years back about the reluctance of some to 'go to
the ground'...
"...FBI studies show that 52% of
officers attacked reported the suspect attempted to force them to the ground
and, 60% of the time, those suspects were successful. Think of that.
Statistically speaking, the majority of attackers will try to take you to the
ground ....How do they do it? 28% of the officers reported the suspect pushing
them to the ground. 33% were pulled to the ground. 24% were tackled to the
ground and 15% were kicked or punched to the ground. Are you ready to survive
this encounter?"
Amazing to think that Jeff
had to 'convince' Police Academy recruits how important it was for them to know
how to defend against a takedown AND be able to handle themselves on the
ground. Today, no self respecting MMA
Fighter would even consider entering a cage without significant knowledge in
BJJ or Judo techniques.
If you give it some thought, it's remarkable
how much the techniques have changed so quickly over a matter of just a few
years. Better yet, we'll see more innovative training and techniques as MMA continues to evolve.

June's True "PrimeTime" Performances!
Dan Hornbuckle At The Belator Challenge
While Dan Horbuckle's pursuit of the Bellator Championship came up
short, we want to 'raise a glass' in his honor and toast his effort. We'd also like to thank him for his continued support of our PrimeTime Brand. Don't count this guy out.
Dan's for real and we'll see him again soon taking on top flight fights and
adding to his highlight reel!
TUF Vet Kolasci Dominates Fioravanti in HFC#4
At PrimeTime we were very excited about the Hoosier Fight Club's event at the Gary Indiana Steelyard Stadium. HFC is one of our newer customers and we were looking forward to seeing the fighers waging war in our PrimeTime 4oz Stopper gloves. Even better, for the main event, against Luigi Fioravanti, John Kolosci would be sporting PrimeTime EFG Fight Shorts. John was the underdog for this fight which made it so much sweeter when he submitted Fioravanti in the first minute of the first round! Congrats to John as well as the HFC's Paul and Danielle Vale. Great night, great fights and a great win for one of the 'good guys'

Pat Curran Win's Bellator Lightweight Tournament
Much congratulations to Pat Curran and his big win in the Bellator Lightweight Tournament. While we don't know Pat personally, we're very appreciative that he was recently pictured in our PrimeTime MMA Gloves. Thanks Pat, and Congrats to you and Team Curran for a great win!
