"On The Mark" MMA Musings By Mark W
October's "What Were They Thinking"!
Lets start by running the numbers with Herschel Walker - 47
years old. TKD rank. No full contact experience. And now a full fledged member of
Strikeforce. One thing he'll find out is
that MMA won't treat him as well as his time on "The Apprentence'. Why Herschel, Why? What are you thinking?
Nevada Athletic Commission, Big John & The UFC - Big John
McCarthy can't get a license in Nevada? Are there that many quality
MMA refs ready for action in Las Vegas?
Obviously we have no vision of the behind the scenes 'stuff' going on
here with the athletic commission, the UFC and Big John, but, you still have to
ask -What are all you guys thinking?
Rampage and Chuck - Dancing and Acting - Yea, that's a long
tern ticket to riches and fortune. But,
the amazing thing is....you numbskulls that are filling up cyber space talking
about these 'bonehead' moves!! What are
you ''wannabe clowns' thinking? Turn off
the TV, shut down the computer, get off
your dead asses and go to the gym!
Cro-Cop's No Mas'and Trigg's Impending Retirement - once
again, we see legends fighting too many times when they should be training the
next generation. Yet, we want to see
more vets become more like Randy Couture. Is it still all about the money? Until
the UFC or Strikeforce develops a 'senior division' you have to ask-What were
they thinking!
UFC & Kimbo Slice - Dana White, I know what you're thinking and the ratings prove it. But there are so many other more deserving fighters out there! Maybe not as entertaining, but we have to ask
- why does everyone want to sell us Kimbo Slice? More to the point - why are you fans and fighters
watching? What are you thinking?
MMA Fans2 - after watching the last few installments of TUF, I feel compelled to remind ya'll that most of these guys have never fought in the UFC. Several are one dimensional fighters and, frankly shouldn't even be on the show. Yet, my email fills up with comments about Big Country and Kimbo, I get calls asking me to predict the fights and Twitter is 'all-a-twitter' about Kimbo coming back to fight again on the show. So, once again, why are you fans and fighters
watching? What are you thinking?
Really I want to know. In fact, I'm so interested, that I want you to email me at mark@primetimefightgear.com to share your thoughts. In fact, I'll even print some of the replies in the next newsletter
Dear PrimeTIme;
You guys have been our favorite MMA glove for many years, but we're seeing a lot of other gloves that look a lot like yours. They even say they're 'PrimeTime Style'. Some of these gloves are cheap. Why should I keep buying PrimeTime?
Too Many Punches To The Head
Dear 2,
Obviously you have taken a few blows to the noggin. Let me first say that you're right. There are other gloves out there. Some are cheap, but don't be fooled. They may look like ours, but they don't even come close to the quality. We even have a few of the comparisons on our website Check it our at www.primetimefightgear.com and look under CSI and SSF comparisons. You'll be shocked at the pics
That said, none are in their 2nd and 3rd generation of padding design. 99% of them aren't approved by any state athletic commission. Not to mention that PrimeTime MMA Gloves were the first approved by the Thai Sports Commission years ago. Further, The USMC, uses only our gloves at their primary training centers and, in some cases, have been using the same gloves and gear for 8 years! Lastly, we stand behind what we sell and always have - for 8 years.
So the short answer here is that we're proven - both for quality and service. The other guys? Who knows? Who Cares? Even the biggest guys like CSI keep trying to copy us, follow us and, in general emulate what we've developed. Funny thing-they've never caught up to us! |
Silence Clothing Company By George St.Clair
Fighters Pay Their Dues - In Silence
We're very proud to announce "Silence Clothing Company" Items will be in
stock by Oct 15th. Check out
some of our original MMA Artwork. Naturally, as is our custom, we always have a 'special' item with that 'WOW' price. This month it will be our "Gothic Style T-shirt" at $9.99-but only for the first 200 customers and only while quantities last.
How did we come up with
such original MMA artwork? Simple. We require all our artists to go
with us to MMA Gyms and MMA events. They see what fighters have to
contend with during training and what happens behind the scenes at MMA
Events. Before, during and after. It's the only way to create
authentic designs that separate us from the wannabes and posers. Even
our artists pay their dues - IN SILENCE

PrimeTime MMA Gym of The Month Indiana Brazillian Jui Jitsu Academy www.ibjja.com
After working with so many
fighters and trainers all over the Midwest, you begin to see a pattern and you
have to ask "why do fighters and competitors come from all over the Midwest to
work out with James Clingerman at IBJJA? I mean it's unreal. Guys drive hours,
over state lines, to train with James. The answer is quite obvious. James
provides some of the best BJJ and MMA training you can find anywhere. And I DO
MEAN ANYWHERE.
The Indiana Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy
has produced many successful MMA and BJJ competitors such as: Daniel Head,
Julie Kedzie, Darrell "Bulldog" Smith, Aaron Johnson, Justin Allen, Carlos Soto,
to name a few. James is also often recruited to work with many of the area's top
fighters. Most recently, James has been sharing his knowledge with the
Integrated Fighting gym and their stable of fighters: Chris Lytle, Jake O'Brien,
Johnny Reese, Shamar Bailey, and many others.
But, it doesn't stop there. James is considered one of the Top
authorities on MMA in the Midwest. He is certified to perform all duties under
the International Sports Combat Federation (ISCF) and is one of the most
in-demand referees in the Midwest. James has refereed everything from local MMA
shows, like the Legends of Fighting Championship (LFC) to International Fight
League (IFL). He is also a certified referee for the Abu Dhabi Combat Club
(ADCC) and is often the referee of choice for the high profile matches at
grappling events.

James and his wife AJ, run a successful tournament of their own, the Extreme Grappling Open or EGO
(www.ExtremeGrapplingOpen.com). Starting in Indianapolis in 2004, the EGO now runs tournaments in major
cities such as St. Louis, MO and Nashville, TN, drawing competitors from a dozen
states who mark their calendars in order to compete against the best in Gi and
no-Gi divisions (Men, Women and Children) while having the opportunity to watch
some of the best "Invite" matches seen anywhere in the
USA.
Interested in more info?
Stop by their Franklin or Greenwood locations OR go
to www.ibjja.com OR www.extremegrapplingopen.com to check out
activities and schedules. Don't forget -you can always email James directly at
