PrimeTime's Military Customers are Around the World

I thought it would be "fun" to share a few recent experiences, since you've enjoyed hearing about the way we truly get personal with our customers. So ... here we go;
Many of our customers take for granted the life that we have here in the states. But, as a company selling internationally, we have customers all over the world. Our favorites? The men and women of the U.S. Military. We field calls and emails all week long from our soldiers in Iraq, Afganistan and throughout Europe. Of course, many can't tell us where they're stationed, but after a while you get 'a handle' on where your gear is heading.
Lately, we've been fortunate enough to develop two relationships that I'd like to talk about. One is with Frank Castro who'll be coming home in late February. Frank has been ordering steadily from us for a while and he recently sent us a pic of the 'workout' area he has at his location. Take a look guys - and remember, sand gets into everything. Think about Frank and all the other soldiers like him when you feel lazy about training or you think that your gym facility needs more 'modern' equipment for you to train properly. If you want to train, you'll find a way. These guys make it happen every day! By the way, check out the gear. It's PrimeTime!
Next theres Cpt Soloman Webb. Captain Webb first contacted us when he was in Germany as his team needed gloves and gear. We always discount servicemen and he was very happy to get our best gear at a great price. But, things didn't stop there. He liked our gear so well that he's ordered time and again. In fact, when his dad wanted to buy him something special (Captain Webb had been deployed to Iraq) he called us and we sent some 'gear and free 'battle Ts' for his guys.
In return, Captain Webb has sent us several pics from Iraq which we proudly display in our office. Our favorite is the one we've included here with his unit posed under a very famous statue in Iraq. Now, I want you to think about this ... how many times have you bought something from someone and then sent them emails AND pictures to let them know how you're doing? If you've never done that then you've probably never bought from PrimeTime!

You guys have busted 'mis bollas' for years about the fact that we don't carry black Level 4 MMA gloves. Well, stop your pounding and pay attention. Beginning March 20th, we will indeed have, IN BLACK, what many believe is the best Amateur/Cross Training glove in the world, available in Black. DateLine - St. Louis, MO - January 19th, 20th
I've been looking forward to this one for a while. KICK International was putting on what I
consider to be a very special event "Pro's V. JOES". This event featured pro fighters against U.S.
Army fighters who are stationed across the country. Now, if you know PrimeTime, you know that
we've been a favorite of the U.S. Armed Forces since we began this
business. You also may remember that it
was our gear that you've seen in dozens of Marine bases around the world as
well as at 'MACE'. PrimeTime was also 'everywhere' in the History Channel's special about Marine
Training.
So, did you really think that we'd miss an event that featured
U.S. Army fighters? Further, guess whose
gloves these fighters were 'outfitted' with?
If you guessed PrimeTime Level 4 MMA gloves than you'd be correct. But, let me tell you what really 'pulled at
my heart-strings'...
...Here I am, at 'floor level' next to the cage (courtesy of
Frank Babcock of Kick) when the color guard were brought out and the National
Anthem was sung beautifully by two sergeants complete in 'dress blues'. At that time, I happened to take a look
around and saw an arena full of US Army Servicemen and women decked out in
fatigues. I saw fighters from both
teams, still in their warm-ups who had already put their gloves on. They were looking up at the flag with a
PrimeTime gloved hand over their hearts.
Now for some of you this might sound 'sappy', but you have
to realize that I've been to probably thousands of matches and events. Only a veteran baseball manager would have
heard the anthem more than I have over my career. So I've 'been there and seen that' more times
than I can count. But, when I saw our
gloves over their hearts and looked at all the enlisted men and women in the
arena stands, I felt that there could never be a greater compliment bestowed on
my company. I saw all our military
customers, wherever they were in the world, protecting our freedom and then
going to their gym to workout in our PrimeTime gloves.
So, why did I share that with ya'll? Simply because I wanted you to understand that
this is much more than a business to the PrimeTime family, because the fighters
that wear our gloves and 'sport' our gear are more than just customers to us!

Great Minds Think Alike...
We've gone on and on and on (ad infinitum) about how some of the biggest names in MMA simply buy our product because it's just that damned good. Well, this month it looks like Calvin Ayre and I have two things in common (and no it's not 'looks' and money!!)- it's Steve Berger and Dan Hornbuckle. If you open up Issue #23 in Tapout Magazine you'll find that both the PrimeTime and Bodog ads feature Dan and Steve as well as some other great fighters. In fact, we created this ad because we thought that both these guys were going to be a BODOG feature fight, but that matchup didn't materialize.
I've seen both these guys fight time and again. Dan's always been impressive with his ground game, but years ago, Steve fought in one of my favorite all time fights against Keith Wasneiuski. Anyone who was at this fight, promoted by Bob Shermer, remembers this war. Great 'standup' outstanding take down defense and counter after counter after counter. It went the distance and more than a few drops of blood were spilled that night.
I'll never forget Keith getting "sewed" up in the center of the ring. The ropes were coming down around him while the "ring roadies" waited patiently for the EMT to finish the job. Too bad I didn't have a camera that day. It would've made for a memorable "shot".
That said, it's also ironic that Keith is in this months PrimeTime ad also. Now when you add Chris Lytle and Sean Douglas, it just goes to show why we're seen as one of the top equipment companies in the world

Fitness Corner Featuring Jemal Crisp
Core Training Basics
Do, I need to even say it? If you have any injuries or have need of a physicians care please do what is wise and have yourself checked out prior to doing any of these workouts. I would suggest having a Certified personal trainer perform an overhead squat assessment prior to starting this workout or any other for that matter. Train hard but train smart. Now, on to the 'good stuff'
The Core is designed to help move you in space. It helps keep you erect and moving constantly. It rarely has time off. So, keep this in mind when training 'this group'. It does not take a whole lot to injure yourself. Most injuries are usually caused by poor form and or too excessive amount of load or speed.
This article will be the beginner workout. You have to start somewhere and build a foundation. Just like when you are trying to build the basics of your game. You start from the ground up - no pun intended!
Let's begin:
Workout 1. All will be performed in 3 sets of 15-25 repetitions.
Reverse Plank Crunch with feet up Knee raises Trunk rotations Cobra Core hold Side core hold
Reverse plank: Lying flat on your back place your feet flat on the floor. Lift your hips up off the mat until they are in line with your shoulder and knees. You should be able to draw a line from your hip to your shoulder. Squeeze your butt like you are trying to hold a quater between your checks - the ones you sit on. Hold for 30-45 seconds and relax all the way down. Perform 3-5 reps.
Crunch with feet up: Lying flat on your back pull your feet up so that they are in line with your knees and parallel to the ground. Squeeze your knees together. Place your hands behind your head but only cupping your head with your finger tips. Elbows should be wide enough to barely see out of your peripheral vision. Keeping your chin up curl your body up until you feel your stomach muscles contract. Hold for a count of two. Lower down to start position. Barely brush the floor with your shoulder blades and then return to the up position. Keep your abs contracted at all times. Pretend someone is going to drop a bowling ball on your stomach at any given moment. This exercise is one of the most incorrectly done one anywhere. It is all about control. If you don't feel constant tension on your abs then slow down.
Knee Raises: Maintain the same position as the crunch. Except place your hands beneath your hips to help support your low back. Lower your feet towards the mat until your low back starts to arch. Once this happens return your feet to the original position.
Trunk Rotations: Sitting up so that you have a 45 degree angle with your upper body and hip. Your knees are bent with your feet flat on the floor. Keeping your chest up your are going to rotate your upper body to the left until you start to feel your sides (obloquies) start to tighten. Then turn the opposite direction to the other side. That is one rep. Remember: slow and controlled.
Cobra: Lying flat on your stomach. Place your hands flat on the floor by your shoulders. Press your feet into the ground and squeeze your glutes. Lift you up body off the floor. Pause at the top. Return to the start position. That is one rep.
Core hold: Remain on your stomach. Place your elbows directly under your shoulders. Contract your shoulder and lift your hips off the ground. This should resemble a push up but you are on your elbows instead. Once again a nice straight line between your heels, hip, and shoulders. Hold for 30-45 seconds. Perform 3-5 reps.
Side core hold: Exactly like the core hold but you are on one elbow on your side. Make sure the elbow is under the shoulder and hips are off of the ground. Hold for 30-45 seconds. Perform 3-5 sets.
The beauty of this workout is that you can always kick it up. Add a dumbbell to any of the 'movement part'. Place a weight on your shoulder blades for the Core hold. The options can be endless. You can even perform these in a circuit fashion where you run through the list once. Rest for 1 minute. Repeat
I know what you are thinking. Wow, trainer boy, you thought of some earth shattering stuff here. Patience grasshopper. This is simply the beginning. I will give you more in the near future.
Best in health,
JC
