Welcome to My World - PrimeTime Joins Myspace
Welcome to my world. Or should I say, "My Space". Actually it's 'your-space'. I can't tell you how many times that folks have asked us to put 'PrimeTime' up on a MySpace page. Why? It seems that we not only sell some of the best gear in the world, but we also entertain our customers. Whether thru a newsletter or a phone conversation, ya'll just can't seem to get enough of our 'skewed' look at the world and specifically MMA.
We also want a place to really, I mean really, help promote our gyms and fighters. The website is just too static (hard to believe) and, in my opinion, people get lost when looking for anything other than PrimeTime gear.
We want to use myspace as a place to put up the videos and pictures that we receive everyday. Over the years, you guys have been great about sending us action shots and video from all over the world. Sean Douglas has sent up Team Tiger Pitt photos from Thailand and Bob Long has sent us pics from Hawaii. Naturally, we have lots of photos from 'everywhere' so we'll start putting them up in 'YourSpace'
You've also asked that we 'tell' a few stories and fill in the blanks of our lives in the full contact fight business. Yes, we really do know all the fighters and personalities that you've associated with PrimeTime over the years. One of my favorites is the one with THE UNDERTAKER at the '07 Wrestlemania 'afterparty'. When was the last time you saw that guy in a suit and tie? By the way, many thanks to Wes Sims for helping us with that connection. Other favorites include;
Tim 'The Maine-iac' Sylvia. First off you have to realize that I'm just under 5'10" tall and standing next to Tim makes me look like I'm a midget. The second thing that I remember about that photo is that it was taken before Tim won his first UFC Championship. We had met earlier at Pat's gym while it was still under construction and Tim was actually living in an apartment upstairs. I'll always remember how great it was that he welcomed a stranger into his home.
Mike Nevitt - For those that don't know Mike Nevitt, well, it's your loss. We've been friends for a long time and there's a lot of water that's 'run under that bridge'.
Mike is a world champion kickboxer out of Chicago and he's fought some of the toughest most entertaining fights that I've seen in that sport. This photo of the two of us was taken at the ring after Mike retained his title in a 10 rounder against a tough contender from the U.K. Broken ribs, broken toes & feet, and bruised black and blue, both fighters never gave an inch till the inevitable happened and Mike knocked him out in a later round.
But, the remarkable thing about that night was this: After a great victory, an exhausted Mike Nevitt sat at ringside and signed autographs for almost an hour! The ring was being dismantled all around him. By the time he and I had a chance to talk, Mike could barely 'muster' the energy to smile. But, he signed every autograph, for every kid. That's what truly makes Mike a champion in every sense of the word.
And I guess that's why you've asked us to blog and get personal. You're tired of being treated like a number or an inconsequential cog in the machine that's been created by some of the 'other guys' in the sport. I know how much ya'll appreciate the fact that you can pick up the phone and talk to the "PrimeTime President' at almost any time day or night. That when you call us with repeat business we remember your name and sometimes can even tell you what you ordered last month. You know that it doesn't matter if your order is $50 or $1000. We treat all our customers equally well and we'll continue to work to earn your business.
Now, in addition to that 'voodoo that we do so well', you'll be able to be 'front and center' in our myspace page. You've asked us for it. We delivered. Enjoy. |
